UK composer and producer Robert Burbidge continues his impressive 2022 release schedule with stunning new single ‘Head of Time.’ The cinematic and downtempo release once again features Winter on vocals and piano, with Burbidge and Winter collaborating between the UK and USA to create a dreamy track that almost feels destined to soundtrack a Hollywood movie.

While Winter and Burbidge have been collaborating for many years and released several tracks together, ‘Head of Time’ dates back to 2015/16 and is the first time the duo collaborated across the Atlantic.

But as Winter explains, they had a little helping hand from Einstein and Karen Carpenter. The track was written in Pasadena, and is inspired by the laidback Californian vibes. And, more specifically, by two famous ex-residents.

‘Head of Time’ was a spontaneous piece written in various places around Pasadena,’ explains Winter’ And one of those was an old coffee joint where supposedly Einstein used to have laboratory in the basement back in his time at Cal Tech.’

The Karen Carpenter connection is a little more spectral:

‘The piano changes and vocals were written and recorded in an old appartment building where the ghost of Karen Carpenter apparently wandered around.’

Joining Winter and Burbidge on ‘Head of Time’ are Dan Hudson on drums, Graham Silbiger on bass, Morgan O’Shaughnessy on strings, with Steve Gligorovic engineering and co-producing the piece and Graeme Durham mastering the track.

‘Head of Time’ is released as a stand alone single on 23rd September via Tune Core and iTunes with the full ‘Blood and Tumbleweed’ album to follow in 2023.
