Robert Burbidge, Winter, Mikey B … Release Lock Step & Medicine: A Dystopian Anthem for Our Times

Robert Burbidge and Mikey B return with Lock Step, a bold new release that fuses martial drums with sustained horns, sweeping strings, and anthemic vocals to create a sound both ceremonial and unsettling.

Featuring standout performances from The Haggis Horns — with Malcolm Strachan on brass and Atholl Ransome on tenor sax — the track expands into widescreen territory. Contributions from Morgan O’Shaughnessey (strings), Ian Stanford (guitar), Erroll Rollins (drums), and a textured foundation of piano, percussion, and bass give Lock Step its depth and cinematic scope.

At once processional and incantatory, Lock Step explores the aesthetics of ceremony: a song whose very familiarity carries an uneasy resonance. It’s an anthem crafted to echo the “soft dystopia” of our present condition — simultaneously stirring and disquieting.

Released on Tangential Music, 19th November 2025
